Osteopathy is a medical discipline that involves the diagnosis and treatment of an array of musculoskeletal conditions. Osteopaths use a range of manual techniques to treat joint and muscular conditions affected by injury, pathology or postural causes. Treatment works to decrease pain, restore movement and function of the affected area as well as improving the general biomechanics of the area. Treatment incorporates soft tissue techniques, joint mobilisation, manipulation and stretching techniques.
Osteopaths treat spinal and peripheral joint conditions such as the shoulder, knee and hip. Osteopaths also prescribe exercise for strengthening and for mobilisation of the joints to ensure optimal recovery and for the prevention of further injury.
Examples of conditions we treat:
Disc pain & sciatica
Back pain
Neck and shoulder pain
Headaches and migraines
Pregnancy related pain ie. pelvic pain
Sports injuries ie. hamstring strains/tears, rotator cuff injuries of the shoulder
